Last year I inherited some money from an old friend, someone who wouldn’t have wanted me to stick it in the family pot and watch it disappear into thin air. So, I decided to ‘do something’ with it…
That ‘something’ was to revamp all my novels. Under the careful eye of Quartermain Press I asked Spiffing Covers to design new jackets, a new website and set me on the road to proper marketing. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made recently and this is the result:
Spiffing Covers are true pros with human faces and one of the main things they’ve taught me is the difference between a book jacket and a BOOK JACKET! Yes, however creative you try to be with a book cover unless you’re a real designer you will struggle.
Now back to the title of this piece, I’ve Been Busy…
Along with the first five Nathan Hawk Murder Mysteries there is a new one called White Crane.
It sees Hawk, witty as ever, up against his usual array of eccentric suspects and finally travelling to China. I don’t need to add that he gets his man.
And there’s also a standalone novel about ‘family’. It’s a minefield of a word. It can mean a happy, jolly unit or … the opposite, pure hell. So, in The Occasional Jonas Kemble try being Marcus Lawlor for a day and ask yourself “How far you would I go to protect my family. No distance at all? Halfway? All the way?” In Marcus’s case doing nothing isn’t an option.
